Let’s face it, we all want to achieve more sales and our business to grow. But sometimes luck is not on our side and we face difficulties in selling our services for the right price. Or maybe it is not luck, but just a few fundamental things in our business or marketing that we might be doing incorrectly. I’ll be discussing 5 points in this blog that if done correctly will surely help you land more ideal clients and hence scale your business.
Let’s start.
Too many business owners want every bit of information or service that they give to be paid for. By providing enough education and information upfront, you empower your customer and draw them closer to your business. There are a number of free and valuable offerings that you can provide to your customer, just to gain their trust and position yourself as an authority. Some examples include e-books, blogs, videos, podcasts, downloadable templates etc. Sure, you need to be compensated for your time and knowledge and if you’re consistent in providing valuable content, you will surely see the value it offers to your business.
Invest time to learn what motivates your customers (or prospects). Take the time to know their needs, challenges, concerns, and fears. Serve them first, and your interests will be served in turn.
You have to connect with your audience on a personal level. People buy because they have some pain to be solved or need to be fulfilled. Understand your customer's motivations to buy, target it on your website, blogs and pitches and you’ll have a much better chance of selling your services.
You have to get out of the selling mindset and shift into an anti-selling mindset. Be yourself and build relationships. The first step of building relationships is to find out where your customers hang out. Are they on LinkedIn or Facebook or Instagram? Connect with them through direct messaging or groups/pages, introduce yourself but DO NOT start selling your services. Show interest in whatever project or business they are working on, build relationships with as many people as you can. You wouldn’t believe how many people would be in need of your services one day, and you will be the first person that comes to their mind for that job!
Sometimes that fault isn’t in your sales strategy, it is the wrong assumption of your target audience. A target audience is a share of consumers that companies or businesses direct their marketing actions to drive awareness of their products or services. Basically, you want to target people who will buy your stuff. Not just waste time selling to everyone. The intention here is to target a market with the same level of education, goals, interests, problems, etc. that will need the product or service you are selling. Once you have identified your target audience and construct your services, messaging and marketing accordingly, you will surely see a surge in your sales.
People need to be guided, they need to be incentivized, they need to be encouraged and inspired to take action. A sales funnel is like having your best salesperson guide the visitor exactly where you want them to go… one step at a time. Practically speaking, a sales funnel is a series of pages that psychologically guide visitors, step by step, to opt-in to your email list or sign up for your service. If you want to take your online sales to the next level, you will need a well-designed sales funnel. Your success relies on how you lead prospects through their buyer’s journey, from awareness all the way down to purchase (and even loyalty).
